Calling all Sponsors!

Aside from reinforcing the voluntary nature of the sponsorship regime, and that keeping a Sponsor Licence is at the discretion of the Home Office, the following changes are of particular interest to Sponsors:

- An express requirement for Sponsors to have read all relevant parts of the Sponsor Guidance and remain aware of any changes;
- An ‘eligible role’ is the new ‘genuine vacancy’ and adds to the criteria that a role must be appropriate to the Sponsor’s business model, business plan and scale;
- For individuals who are not direct employees, Sponsors are required to keep evidence of their right to work on file either by undertaking this a right to work check themselves or by obtaining this evidence from their direct employers; and
- Evidence must be kept that a Sponsor has made their sponsored workers aware of their employment rights in the UK.

We’re expecting further updates to the Sponsor Guidance on 8 April 2026 following the implementation of changes to the salary requirements for Skilled Workers. Reach out if we can help!
